Trondheim is one of Norway's oldest towns, founded in 997 by the viking Olav Tryggvason, and is today the third largest city in Norway with its 150.000 inhabitants. It is also a modern city, has more than 25.000 students and is one of the largest high-technology research centres in Europe.
